Are you on track to an exceptional bachelor’s degree in engineering, natural or social sciences? Then we would like to pique your interest in a doctorate! Application for the second call is now open until 1 October 2022.
During your two-year studies towards your master's degree, you will be supported by mentors in different ways, from choosing subjects to sharpening you scientific tools. In this way we will prepare you to work with us in the Clean Circles research project and provide you with a broad range of specialist knowledge. You will also receive a monthly book-grant of €150.
In the subsequent doctoral phase, you will be employed as a research assistant in the Clean Circles project. Together with an interdisciplinary team, you will conduct research on a central question of the energy transformation: How can we use iron as an energy carrier to store electricity? Via the Graduate School Energy and Science Engineering (ESE), to which you will be introduced through your participation in the research project, you will have access to another energy research network at TU Darmstadt besides Clean Circles.
The Direct Track programme is specifically aimed at female students in engineering, natural or social sciences anticipating a very good bachelor’s degree, who will be starting their master’s studies at TU Darmstadt in the winter semester 2022/23.

What is special about Direct Track?
Direct Track is particularly interesting if you can imagine going into research after your bachelor's degree. Mentors help you to find your way around the programme and not lose sight of the big picture when choosing lectures for the master's programme, but also give you every freedom to continue your education in a wide range of subjects. Besides, the early insight and collaboration in large research projects can be very motivating for a successful course of studies.
Who can apply? Why is it worthwhile?
Direct Track at Clean Circles is primarily directed towards female bachelor students at the TU Darmstadt who flirt with a career in science, are interested in opportunities in research on the energy transition, and can imagine doing a doctorate. The students are guided through their master's programme, introduced to the Clean Circles project and will have the opportunity to do a doctorate in the project after graduation.
