My field of research is fascinating. To laymen I would explain it in the following comprehensible manner:
To laymen I would explain it in the following comprehensible manner: My field of research aims to develop theoretical models for systems of chemical interest out of equilibrium conditions. By using such theoretical models, we can study whether some parameters (temperature, viscosity, chemical reactions etc.) influence the physical-chemical behavior of the system. Moreover, the developed theoretical models can help several industries to optimize their processes.
My most important success in research to date is…
the development of a non-equilibrium thermodynamics model, which permits to study the effect of interionic interactions on transport phenomena of electrolyte solutions.
I’ve chosen the TU Darmstadt because of…
the high-quality scientific works published by Professor Yongqi Wang about the fundamentals of continuum thermodynamics and constitutive theory. Moreover, I developed part of my PhD thesis at Fluid Dynamics Group in 2012 as a DAAD fellowship holder. The success obtained during the short research stay in 2012 and the great working environment motivated me to come back to TU Darmstadt.
If I were a student today, I would…
do exactly what I did in the past.
The perfect balance to a stressful working day is…
to enjoy a tasty meal with my family in a very pleasant atmosphere.
With the help of my host in Darmstadt I would like to…
consolidate the use of the continuum thermodynamics approach in the study of the physical-chemical properties of chemical systems out of equilibrium conditions.

Martina Reis is an outstanding young scientist. She is very devoted, intelligent, productive and affable with a sense of pleasure. She has showed a great potential in academic learning and is fully qualified to independently carry out research works. Her achievement record is very impressive for a researcher of her age.
You, your team and the TU Darmstadt benefit from your guest’s…
Martina is an expert in continuum thermodynamical modeling of complex mixtures which is also a key research field of our group. Further, she is well connected to some world-leading Brazilian scientists in continuum thermodynamics
