Questionnaire to the Research Fellow

My field of research is fascinating. To laymen I would explain it in the following comprehensible manner:

My research interest is devoted to molecularly derived advanced energy materials with exceptional properties such as ultra-high temperature resistance in corrosive environments, improved electrochemical water splitting, improved storage capacity for stationary and mobile battery applications, and enhanced electromagnetic absorption and shielding for environmental protection of aerospace devices, vehicles and workspaces from electromagnetic radiation.

My most important success in research to date is…

to systematically assess the interrelation between materials synthesis, phase composition, microstructure and materials properties of single-source precursor-derived multicomponent ceramics and ceramic nanocomposites.

I’ve chosen the TU Darmstadt because of…

two reasons. First: TU Darmstadt is one of the leading technical universities in Germany. Its continuous innovative and interdisciplinary research and high level teaching and education have been locally and internationally appreciated and confirmed by various rankings and recommendations.

Second: Leading research work of my host, Prof. Ralf Riedel’s group, in the field of the development of novel strategies suitable for the synthesis of inorganic, oxidic and non-oxidic materials with properties beyond the state of the art.
