Extensive experimental research infrastructures are available at the TU for addressing research questions in engineering and natural sciences. The experimental research infrastructures are often grouped together spatially or organizationally in the form of so-called core facilities and are available to various users. Specialized research infrastructures & large scale instrumentation complement the core facilities. They are often only used by a limited number of scientists.
The three Rhine-Main Universities work closely together in the procurement and operation of experimental research infrastructures and in the organization of core facilities.
At TU Darmstadt, various individual devices are grouped together spatially and organizationally in so-called core facilities. The devices in a core facility are available for use by various scientists and, where applicable, external partners. In addition to device access, a core facility often also offers methodological expertise for the targeted use of the devices or provides scientific services.
TU.Infra, the research infrastructure database of TU Darmstadt, lists the core facilities as operators (providers) as well as the individual devices available in the core facilities.
Specialized research infrastructures complement the services offered by core facilities. They are often used by only a limited number of scientists.
