Real-world laboratories are practical research environments in which science, industry, and society work together to research and test new solutions under real-world conditions. The Darmstadt Energy Laboratory for Applied Technologies (DELTA) is a real-world laboratory demonstrating the urban energy transition. The aim is to make it economically and socially feasible by connecting energy-optimized neighborhoods, increasing energy efficiency, and making energy consumption and supply more flexible. The project combines research in neighborhoods, industry, and the energy sector with the aim of highlighting the potential of the energy transition for cities.
