PEERStart
Orientation Programme for Doctoral Candidates

You would like to get to know other doctoral candidates? You are at the beginning of your doctorate and looking for orientation?

Jumpstart for your doctorate

PEERStart is an orientation programme for doctoral candidates of TU Darmstadt at the beginning of their doctorate. It provides start-up support for networking with other doctoral candidates, offers the possibility to learn and apply peer group supervision methods and provides orientation for the doctorate and beyond.

PEERStart 2023

Who can participate? Doctoral candidates of TU Darmstadt from all research disciplines – ideally in the beginning of the doctorate
What is the aim? The goal is to facilitate networking with other doctoral candidates across disciplinary boundaries and to establish peer groups that accompany and advise each other throughout the entire doctoral phase.
What is offered? PEERStart offers the opportunity to get to know other doctoral candidates from different disciplines and to form peer groups.

The participants receive training on the method of “peer group supervision” and can independently apply the knowledge they have acquired in their groups. In this way, doctoral candidates learn to advise each other on various topics related to the doctorate and thus experience the best possible guidance and support in their doctoral phase.

(1) Getting to know peer group supervision

After your registration, you can participate in a two-hour online introductory lecture on peer group supervision and get to know the method.

Afterwards, you decide whether you want to become part of a peer group and participate in the training workshop.

(2) Training

You will learn and test peer group supervision in a one-day workshop on-site, conducted by an external trainer, and get to know your peer group. You can choose between a German-speaking and an English-speaking workshop.

(3) Self-conducted peer group supervision

After successful training, you will be able to consult each other on your individual concerns in independently organised meetings.

If necessary, you will be supported by supervision.
