Welcome event for doctoral candidates at TU

Impulse – Getting started and connected is an event especially for new doctoral candidates at TU Darmstadt.

With this event we aim to:

  • connect doctoral candidates of the university with each other across disciplines,
  • introduce important topics and actors for a doctorate at TU Darmstadt,
  • provide helpful impulses for a good start into the doctoral phase.

The next Impulse will take place from 28 – 29 April 2025 in Wiesbaden (incl. overnight stay).

Target group: All doctoral candidates who started their doctorate on or after 1 January 2024 and did not participate in 2024 are invited

  • Tuesday, April 29th, 2025 | 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Our guest: Dr. Ottmar Georg Edenhofer Professor for the Economics of Climate Change at TU Berlin and director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). After studying economics and philosophy in Munich, he received his doctorate in economics from TU Darmstadt. He has been a member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina since 2018 and chairman of the steering committee of the German government's Science Platform for Climate Protection since 2019. In 2020, he received the German Environmental Award. He was ranked among the most cited researchers in the world by Clarivate Analytics in 2018.
