Directorates, staff units and officers
University Administration

On behalf of the executive board, the university administration fulfils all the central administrative tasks of the university and provides the best possible framework conditions for research and instruction. It divides the subject areas over eight departments. Staff positions are directly subordinate to the President or Vice President, Administration and Financial Affairs, and undertake cross-sectional tasks and special projects. The head of the university administration is the Vice President, Administration and Financial Affairs.

Officers

The data protection officer and the data protection team are responsible for all matters relating to data protection at TU Darmstadt.

The central IT security officer and the computer emergency response team are responsible for all matters relating to information and IT security at TU Darmstadt.

The central Digital Transformation Office (DTO) coordinates and supports important university-wide IT initiatives of the TU Darmstadt in science and administration.

The Office for Sustainability (Büro für Nachhaltigkeit) is a networking and contact point for all questions regarding sustainability at TU Darmstadt..

Directorates

Directorate I – Strategic Development

This directorate's portfolio includes university strategy, quality management, organisation of governing bodies, and strategic controlling.

Directorate II – Studies and Teaching

Responsible for all matters relating to current and prospective students, campus management including TUCaN, the development and quality assurance of courses offered, as well as university and higher education legislation

Directorate III – Finance & Economic Affairs

Responsible for the central management of all finances for TU Darmstadt.

Directorate IV – Real Estate

Responsible for floor-space management, contractual matters relating to property, letting and leasing, control systems, occupational and environmental safety, infrastructural building management and radiation protection.

Directorate V – Building Management & Technical Operations

Responsible for the overall planning and execution of building maintenance, renovation and new-build projects, technical operation and energy management at the university, as well as for barrier-free construction and mobility management.

Directorate VI – Research Services & Technology Transfer

Responsible for research matters as well as knowledge and technology transfer at TU Darmstadt.

Directorate VII – Human Resources & Legal Affairs

Responsible for the management of personnel matters for all employees at TU Darmstadt, human resources development and general legal affairs at TU Darmstadt.

Directorate VIII – International Affairs

Responsible for all international matters: International university and exchange partnerships, international students and visiting academics/researchers.

Staff units

Gender Equality Office

The gender equality office coordinates the implementation of central measures of TU Darmstadt to support equal opportunities.

The gender equality officer is the head of the gender equality office. Furthermore she acts as an independent point of contact to all employees and students.

Internal Audit

The Internal Audit staff unit sees itself as a partner of the university management and the university's administration. Within the frame of its auditing, control and advisory function, it aims to identify weaknesses and optimise processes. The head of Internal Audit staff unit is the contact person for corruption prevention.

IT- and Process Coordination

The IT- and Process Coordination manages the tasks related to the Requirements Management. The Requirements Management was developed to enable transparency in the process of developing new requirements into IT-solutions. Relevant requirements are identified and processed in cooperation with the HRZ in order to ensure on-time delivery.

Family Service

The Family Service supports students and employees in finding the right balance between university studies, career and family.
