University Assembly, Senate and University Council are the supporting pillars of academic autonomy at TU Darmstadt. These governing bodies shape the development of TU Darmstadt and conduct important debates on higher education policy. In addition, TU Darmstadt has established advisory boards and commissions which perform advisory tasks within the university.

University Council

The University Council has the right of initiative on fundamental matters, in particular on questions of university development, and exercises control functions.

Senate

The Senate advises the Executive Board on matters of structural and strategic importance and participates in academic matters. It supervises the management of the Executive Board.

University Assembly

The University Assembly of TU Darmstadt is the electoral body of TU Darmstadt; the Executive Board is accountable to the University Assembly.

Advisory Council on Research-Related Equality of Opportunity

The Advisory Council accompanies the implementation of research-related equality of opportunity, examines existing programmes and processes and makes recommendations to the Executive Board.

Scientific Council

The Scientific Council of TU Darmstadt advises the Executive Board on strategic questions of research orientation and research funding of the university and supports the development of the research profile of TU Darmstadt.

Quality Management Advisory Board

The Quality Management Advisory Board advises the Executive Board on matters of integrated quality management at TU Darmstadt and its further development.

Ethics Commission

The Ethics Commission examines and assesses the ethical admissibility of research projects which include, in particular, studies on humans, samples taken from humans or research with personal data of test subjects.
