About me

Hey, I'm Jannik and I'm 24 years old. I'm studying Sustainable Engineering – Mechanical Engineering at TU Darmstadt. My degree course is very future-oriented due to the insight into a wide variety of fields. Mathematics is an important part, it helps us to make connections tangible. We learn to understand the world of tomorrow by using physical relationships to describe complex systems.

Jannik,
Mechanical Engineering - Sustainable Engineering B.Sc.

My goal is to be able to use the knowledge I have acquired in a variety of ways later on. My biggest dream is to help develop a roller coaster and later test it myself and see that many thousands of people will enjoy it every year.

Why I study at TU Darmstadt:

I chose TU Darmstadt because it is recognised as one of the leading universities for research into machine elements. I am particularly impressed by its innovative approach and the close integration of theory and practice in this field. The university also offers outstanding opportunities to gain in-depth knowledge of thermodynamics. The excellent teaching, state-of-the-art laboratories and interdisciplinary collaboration make it possible to acquire in-depth specialist knowledge and apply this in practical projects.

What I like about Darmstadt:

Darmstadt is a beautiful city that inspires with its mixture of history, culture and nature. Known as a city of science, it offers a lively university scene and numerous research institutions. The architecture ranges from magnificent Art Nouveau buildings, such as on the Mathildenhöhe, to modern works of art. Parks such as the Herrngarten or the idyllic Oberwaldhaus invite you to relax. The cultural offerings are also diverse – theatres, museums and festivals provide variety. The TU Darmstadt campus is embedded in the life of the city, which is unique.

Fun fact about myself:

I enjoy all things that involve planning and creative ideas. This includes photography, videography and DJing.

What makes me happy:

When you can see the results of your success, whether it's in your studies, projects or craftsmanship.

What I would tell my younger self:

Listen to your gut feeling and don't change anything, because everything that happens has a good reason.

My favourite motto is:

‘The important thing is not to give up so easily.’ (Stephen Hawking)
