AC-Loss Models of Type-II-Superconductors

Literature research

Coils employing Type-II-Superconductors (SC) offer various design options in the context of (rotating) electrical machines. In presence of AC magnetic fields and AC transport currents, these materials are however subject to some AC loss. The aim of the project consists in a thorough literature research on analytical and numerical models for the computation of different loss components. Focus on: Computational effort, accuracy, generality and transferability (w.r.t. different SC materials).
