Gender Equality at TU Darmstadt
The realisation of equal opportunity involves all genders. By equality, we mean that women have equal access to all positions in research, teaching and administration and that any kind of discrimination against people of all genders is dismantled. TUDa is committed to gender diversity and aware to the fact that people are not only defined as male or female. The aim is to create an that supports its students, employees and trainees in achieving their individual educational and development goals and gives everyone an equal opportunity to participate. This intention unites the equal opportunities university (opens in new tab) with Gender Equality Plan (opens in new tab). Our common ground is to create a more diverse, open and anti-discriminatory university culture. TUDa works on equality at all organisational levels in order to support a working, research and study environment that is equitable in terms of opportunities and low in discrimination. TU Darmstadt’s Gender Equality Targets
The majority of study, research and teaching areas at TUDa are subjects in which women are underrepresented. This is why increasing the proportion of women in STEM subjects and at all academic career levels is part of numerous gender equality activities and characterising the gender equality targets:
- Gender mainstreaming = expanding and establishing a culture and structure that is equal in terms of opportunities and gender equality
- Increase the proportion of female professors
- Acquisition of women for STEM subjects and for scientific careers
What is the difference between the Gender Equality Plan and the TU Darmstadt Plan for the Advancement of Women and Gender Equality?
The Plan for the Advancement of Women and Gender Equality (Frauenförder- und Gleichstellungsplan) regulates the principles of the advancement of women and equal opportunities on the basis of the Hessian Equal Rights Act (HGlG). It includes an analysis of the employee structure and binding targets for increasing the proportion of women.
