Professors and junior research group leaders are a fundamental component in supporting researchers in the early stages of their careers at TU Darmstadt.

You supervise doctoral candidates under reliable and transparent conditions, pass on your professional expertise, guide their scientific work and introduce the early career researchers to the national and international scientific community.

For people in the postdoc phase, you will guide the further development of the postdoc's academic portfolio. You are aware of the balance between early academic independence and the supervision and management of postdocs. You will therefore always act as a mentor and create the best conditions for postdocs to be recognized in the international scientific community.

The university-wide strategy “Acquiring, promoting, creating momentum” (opens in new tab) for the promotion of researchers in early career phases outlines the joint goals and the role of professors as supervisors and mentors.

For you as supervisors and mentors, we provide information on the supervision of doctoral candidates at the TU, on recruiting and career development for postdocs and on our activities on the cross-cutting topic of TU support structures for ECR for your third-party funded projects. You will also find an overview of the Ingenium offers for your early career researchers.
