Xenia,
B.Sc. Chemistry
My personal favorite moment or event at TU is the Weihnachtsvorlesung of my department. It’s always interesting to watch this chemistry show. For a second chemistry seems not that complicated at all.
Profile
Nationality:
German with foreign roots
Study programme:
B.Sc. Chemistry.
Prior education:
German high school
Why I chose TU Darmstadt:
After my graduation, I applied to many universities. But I chose TU Darmstadt, because the TU sent me the fastest reply and a personal message. This was an unexpected gesture that no other university did. That’s why the TU was different from the other ones.
What I like about Darmstadt:
At first sight Darmstadt seems to be a simple German town and to be honest I never really liked Darmstadt in the past. But during the last two years I met so many new and interesting people. That’s why I changed my mind and started to see Darmstadt in a different light. Right now I am still exploring Darmstadt. For example I found out about a small garden hidden near the town central. So what thrills me about Darmstadt is that it’s possible to find new and interesting places, people and things even though I never expected it.
Free time & hobbies:
In my free time I like to do a lot of sports. One of my favourite sports is surfing . But I am also very interested in drawing and art in general. My favourite painter of all times is Monet.
Besides that I like to take pictures with my camera while going for a walk outside. Sometimes I even find a model, so I can make a small photoshooting.
Best moments at TU
The best moment at TU is when you passed all difficult exams .
My personal favorite moment or event at TU is the Weihnachtsvorlesung of my department. It’s always interesting to watch this chemistry show. For a second chemistry seems not that complicated at all.
You have to do this in Darmstadt:
You have to swim in the Woog at night in December. It’s very refreshing and funny. Maybe you can do this with a group of friends.
What would you have told your younger self?
I would have told myself, to not take life so serious and be more open minded . Because we never really know what can happen in life. So the way we take life and react to it is very important.
What makes you happy
It makes me happy to spend time with my family and close friends. Especially during the time oft he Pandemic I realised how blessed I am to have a family that i still can visit. Also I am very happy to have friends that stay by my side even though I can’t meet with them in offline life.
Fun fact about me:
When I was about 7 or 8 I fell into a well at Palmengarten in Frankfurt.
My favourite motto:
It’s always possible to find a solution.
