Which merchandise items are particularly popular?

The black hoodie is a classic in the TU Shop, the new T-shirts in blue and red are super soft. The products are popular with students and staff, and alumni also like to pop in to buy memorabilia from their alma mater. Architecture student Nomin works in the TU shop and knows what goes down well with her fellow students. Sara from #studentsofTUdarmstadt definitely has a clear favourite.

Anyone visiting TU Darmstadt is greeted at the TU Shop: it is located directly in the entrance area of Karo 5 on the city centre campus and also serves as a reception. The TU Shop is open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 1 pm. Every Tuesday you can meet architecture student Nomin there, who works as a student assistant in the shop.

‘My favourite product is the new T-shirt. The shape is very good – unisex! Many women don't want to wear such tight T-shirts. I like it best in blue,’ says Master's student Nomin. The black hoodie is very popular among students. ‘Many buy the hoodie when they graduate, as a souvenir,’ says Nomin.

I wanted to wear something from my university!

Sara from #studentsofTUdarmstadt bought the hoodie right at the beginning of her studies at the TU. ‘I wanted to wear something from my university. The hoodie is very nice and I've always been a big fan of Athena,’ she says. But she also really likes the T-shirt, ‘it's not that expensive either,’ she admits. Fellow student Melis is also a fan of the shirt: ‘The quality is very good, very light,’ enthuses the BME student.

Those valueing sustainability will also find what they are looking for in the TU Shop. ‘The notebooks are particularly sustainable and environmentally friendly,’ explains Nomin. Not so sustainable, but still very popular, is the ‘AbsolvEnte’, a rubber duck with a graduate's hat.

The thermo drinking bottle is also very popular, especially for practical reasons. That's why it was on special offer at the start of term – some first-year students grabbed it!

But the work in the TU Shop is not limited to selling hoodies, shirts, ducks and writing materials. ‘Many people ask for student things, for example the Athena Card. Then I send them on to Student Services,’ says Nomin. Behind the TU Shop there are other ‘counters’ where students can get advice or hand in documents during opening hours.

TU-Shop: Where and when?

The TU Shop is located in Karo 5, the central entrance portal of TU Darmstadt on the city centre campus at Karolinenplatz. Right behind the reception desk are the display cases with TU notebooks, pens, thermo mugs and cups in various TU colours. You can try on the popular hoodie with the Athena logo and the T-shirts right there. Bags and rucksacks as well as the popular ‘AbsolvEnte’ for the bathtub can also be viewed in the shop.

While the TU shop in Karo 5 is open Monday to Thursday between 9am and 1pm, you can browse and order from the TU Darmstadt online shop around the clock.

At TU Darmstadt, there is a Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) programme available. In this programme, students learn to better understand mental health and acquire special skills to support fellow students in crisis.
