In 2023, the AMC was established as a unique experimental space for industry and academia. Across more than 600 m² of laboratory space, we collaborate with other institutes at TU Darmstadt on topics spanning the additive process chain.

The Process Learning Factory CiP (Center for Industrial Productivity) is an innovative training centre where participants develop hands-on skills in applying methods and tools for operational excellence in practice-oriented settings. Designed as a training workshop, CiP provides a realistic environment for developing practical competencies in the design and management of production processes.

The ETA Factory is a research environment and demonstrator for energy-, resource- and climate-efficient production. Together with industry and research partners, we develop and test networked solutions for climate-neutral process chains and communicate these in workshops.

The FlowFactory is a learning factory dedicated to the investigation of technical and organisational approaches to digitalised, lean production systems of the future. Our research focuses on process and product standardization in one-off production, circular economy approaches, and Lean 4.0.

With the Digital Product Passport, the importance of verifying sustainability data is steadily increasing. Using additive manufacturing as an example, the “LiBi3D” demonstrator shows how component-specific CO₂ data can be collected, documented, and reused for comparable production orders.

Using a rocket launch as an example, the demonstrator shows how decisions in product development influence sustainability metrics. Users select materials, fuel, and launch location and receive an estimate of the resulting CO₂ equivalents.

The TEC Lab is a production-oriented experimental environment for academia, industry, and teaching. Our research focuses on data-driven, adaptable manufacturing technologies, networked systems, resource-efficient processes, as well as responsive and autonomous production systems.

Our research focuses on strategies, opportunities, and challenges in sustainability management and reporting within companies. It addresses changing stakeholder requirements, regulatory frameworks, and legal constraints in climate and sustainability marketing.

Decisions made during the product development process influence the environmental impacts of technical products across their entire life cycle. We conduct research on data-driven approaches for sustainable development and production, as well as for the structured provision of data.

A holistic perspective on robotic systems combined with machine learning offers significant optimisation potential. Our focus is on sustainability, robotics, products and processes, and human integration. Applications range from industry and laboratory automation to agriculture and construction.
