Industry plays a key role in Germany’s transition towards climate neutrality: accounting for around one third of final energy consumption, it offers significant potential for reducing emissions and resource use. At the same time, regulatory requirements are increasing, alongside rising customer expectations and internal climate targets. Delivering sustainable solutions requires close collaboration between research and industry. The transfer of knowledge into practice remains fragmented, with limited awareness of both research findings and industrial needs, as well as low visibility of existing offerings, all of which continue to hinder progress. This is precisely where significant opportunities lie:through targeted exchange and new partnerships, existing potential can be unlocked, innovation accelerated, and sustainable transformation driven forward.
