The Technische Universität has been deeply rooted in the City of Science Darmstadt and intensively networked in the Frankfurt Rhine-Main Metropolitan Region – for over 140 years. It enriches society on many levels – attracting people from around the world to study and research, always open to dialogue, sharing its knowledge and insights, stimulating and leading debates and launching initiatives. TU Darmstadt invites you through many avenues to visit, make use of its facilities and keep your curiosity alive.
“The university shapes the cityscape, lending it its identity and flair. And with the botanical garden, the Hochschulbad or the Schlossgraben, which we make accessible to the citizens, we open up attractive places for the urban population.”
The scientific ‘universal library’ for the people of Darmstadt and southern Hessen as well as for the many educational and research institutions, authorities, cultural institutes and companies located here.
Through its art forum, TU Darmstadt is increasingly anchored as a venue for public cultural events.
Together with the Schader Foundation
TU President Hans Jürgen Prömel, Mayor of Darmstadt Jochen Partsch and Alois Schader from the Schader Foundation launched the ‘Runden Tisch Wissenschaftstadt Darmstadt’ in 2014. Since then, top management from universities, politics, research enterprises, cultural institutions and scientific institutes have come together in Darmstadt to discuss the self-image and potential of the city of science. Leaders of some 40 institutions signed a memorandum in 2018.
