Information about the programme

What does the FEC offer?

We offer support throughout your studies. The programme consists of three modules:

1. FEC-PREP & WELCOME helps you to prepare for and to start your studies.

2. FEC-POTENTIAL supports you to succeed in your studies and provides initial career guidance.

3. FEC-PROFESSION prepares you for the transition into the German job market.

You can put together your programme in a flexible way and take part in various events during your studies. Further information on the three modules can be found here.

Good preparation is important! Start your studies with all the important information. We offer support and networking on topics such as residence law, housing and finances. We also help you with orientation and offer individual advice.

We also offer language courses and special programs to prepare you for your studies.

For example, study skills training:

In cooperation with PreCIS, you will learn how the German higher education system works from experienced student trainers. Acquire knowledge about how performance is assessed, how studies are organized and how to prepare for exams.

Successful right from the start – With FEC, you will get to know the new teaching and learning culture, develop your interdisciplinary skills and gain important knowledge about the German job market. Career buddies support you in gaining initial experience through internships, student jobs or work shadowing at partner companies.

Example – intercultural simulation game:

In cooperation withthe Center for Intercultural Competence (ZIKK) and Unite! -partner universities, the virtual simulation game Megacities is offered every year, in which students can also collect credit points (CP). Through internationality, multilingualism and different subject cultures, intercultural experience can be gained in a playful way. Students reflect on their own ideas of “normality” and learn to deal better with foreignness and multilingualism.

Example – conference participation:

In cooperation with the Vereinigung von Freunden der Technischen Universität zu Darmstadt e.V., FEC enables international female students to take part in a technology conference. Not only do they learn about current topics in technology, but they also have the opportunity to meet successful women in engineering and make valuable professional contacts. In addition, there are workshops to help students improve their time management, prepare for exams and learn self-care in stressful phases.

This module helps international graduates with their transition into the German job market. Together with the International Career Service Rhein-Main and partner companies, a comprehensive range of support is being developed for students in the graduation phase. The focus is on key topics for a successful career start, such as developing a personal skills profile, choosing the best application strategy and preparing for job interviews and selection procedures.

Example – career workshops:

In the workshops “Starting a career in Germany” and “Convincing with self-confidence”, you will learn how to find a suitable position, create convincing application documents and successfully master job interviews and salary negotiations. The workshops are offered in German and English.

Who can take part?

International prospective students, students and alumni, especially from the departments of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science.

How much does participation cost?

Participation in all events and offers is free of charge
