SCC Start

The Science Communication Center (SCC) is the central institution for strategic science communication at TU Darmstadt. It bundles communication, marketing and art under one roof. It is based on the Darmstadt model of science communication.

Scientists are the most important communicators within an institution.

The institution must offer these scientists legal, psychological and media-related support in order to enable the best possible model of participative-authentic science communication (Enable + Empower).

Successful science communication sees the other social stakeholders as partners on an equal footing. It contextualizes and ideally creates a multidirectional transfer of knowledge within the framework of co-production.

Science Meets Politics

“Science Meets Politics” transfers the principles of the Darmstadt Model to scientific policy advice. It is a service for scientists to prepare them specifically for involvement in this area.

Hessian Science Communication Network: The “Science Meets Media” project promotes research and science communication at Hessian universities. The network is aimed at professors and highly qualified researchers.

The WissKomm-Campus is the e-learning platform of the National Institute für Wissenschaftskommunikation (NaWik) gGmbH. On the campus you will find online learning courses for professional science communication.

Continuing education program for doctoral candidates and postdocs

The SCC and Ingenium are working together on a training network for early career researchers to strengthen their skills in science communication. The first modules are ready.

Science communication in the national discourse

TUDa is also intensively involved in discussions on the relevance and strategic design of science communication throughout Germany. TU President Tanja Brühl and CCO Patrick Honecker are members of the Steering Committee of the #Factory Wisskomm initiative launched by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
