A large part of the semester fee is the semester ticket, which we can use to travel throughout Germany. The digital-Semesterticket ticket will replace the previous semester ticket on the back of your student ID from summer semester 2024.Until now, it was only possible to travel within the region, but thanks to the upgrade at TU Darmstadt, you can now travel all buses, regional trains, suburban trains, underground trains and trams (except for the AirLiner, which takes you to the airport in Frankfurt/Main as well as the InterCity and InterCity Express).

On the website of the AStA you can find more information about the semester ticket.

For all sports enthusiasts, the Studi-Ticket offers an indirect advantage, because as a student of the TU Darmstadt, you receive the Athene Card, which among others gives you free admission to the university stadium. Among the facilities: an athletics track, an artificial turf field, tennis courts and beach volleyball courts, swimming pool etc. You can easily reach the university stadium with tram lines 2 or 9, which is a great way to lighten up your everyday university life. You can find more information about the grounds and the opening hours of the university stadium on the stadium's website.

Even more possibilities with the Athene Card

  • In addition to free access to the university stadium, the Athene card of TU Darmstadt, an essential complement to the student ID, offers a host of additional benefits. With this card, you can not only demonstrate that you are a student at TU Darmstadt and thus enjoy numerous advantages, but also easily manage without cash at many locations in Darmstadt. Whether in the cafeteria, at the copier in the university premises, or while doing laundry in the dormitory – the Athene card, after being loaded with money, makes it possible.
  • But that's not all! You can also use it to borrow books and media and secure a locker in the library. And if you need to print something for the university at short notice, off to the PC pool with it – thanks to the Athene card!
  • And as if that weren't enough, the Athene card opens the door to the car-sharing offers of the ASTA. This way, you're not only savvy on campus but can also broaden your horizons and explore Darmstadt and its surroundings. The Athene card is indeed the perfect companion that makes student life easier!

For me, the university stadium offers the perfect break from studying on nice summer days!

Hey there! I’m Arya and I’m a master’s student in Tropical Hydrogeology and Environmental Engineering at TU Darmstadt. I’ve always been passionate about innovation, teamwork, Start-up work environments and how to keep nature safe and sustainable. These elements form the main topics for our master’s program and they match my ambitions and goals for the future. This ultimately encouraged me to apply for the programme at TU Darmstadt, whose home is also known as the “city of science”.
