Semester Fee and Re-Registration

Re-registration is mandatory to stay enrolled at TU Darmstadt and to partake in exams.

Students will only be re-registered after a complete transfer of the semester fee that must also provide the matriculation number as a reference (no further actions are required).

You will receive your Student-ID-Card by mail, after the fee has been credited.

  • The semester and administration fee is re-determined and adjusted each semester.
  • You can make all changes to your data, especially changes of address, by yourself in TUCaN in the section Service > Personal data. More information

Different enrollment periods apply for newly enrolled students. Please take note of the payment deadlines listed on your admission letter.

The semester fees must also be paid by students who apply for a leave of absence to maintain their status as students.

Please assure that

  • the amount is credited to TU Darmstadt's account no later than the final day of the re-registration period,
  • the payment processing of your bank and TU Darmstadt may require between five and ten days for transfers. We recommend to transfer the fee fifteen days before the end of the re-registration period
  • if the amount is transferred by a third party, please specify the student's name after noting the matriculation number in the reference field
  • the very exact amount of the fee must be transferred, rounding up or down will not be accepted,
  • for international (not EU) transactions potential charges may apply.

If your payment is incomplete, expulsion from the university shall proceed in accordance with §65 (2) no. 2 and 4 of the Hessian University Act (HHG).

If your payment is received after March 15, 2024, you will be required to transfer an additional fee due to late re-registration of 30 euros. After March 31, 2024 a re-registration for the summer semester 2024 is no longer possible!

Newly enrolled students do not have to pay any late fees! Please take note of the payment deadlines listed on your admission letter.

According to the General Examination Terms of TU Darmstadt (APB) students must be enrolled in the respective course of studies to sign up for exams, this also applies to re-examinations.

The issuing of the certificate may take up to eight weeks. We recommend to hand in the de-registration request at the end of the semester, after receiving the certificate and being sure that they have passed all exams. The Fachsemester- and Hochschulsemester-count will not be displayed on the certificate. Please contact your office of student affairs for questions on exams and degrees.

The semester fee will only be refunded when the deregistration application is submittted at the latest by 31 March for the winter semester and by 30 September for the summer semester.

In certain circumstances a refund of the fee regarding the Semesterticket can be requested from the AStA. Deadlines and requirements for the application can be found here: AStA

International Erasmus and exchange students in cooperation
International Erasmus/exchange or cooperation students who are guest-students at TU Darmstadt do not pay any administrative fee. In this case only the below mentioned semester fee need to be transferred for re-registration.

This does not apply to TU Darmstadt students who go abroad with these programs. Or students of the programs FAME, AMIS, AMIR; they must pay the full normal fee for students (§ 62 Abs. 4 HessHG)

Please re-register at your home-university for the following semester if you take part in RMU-Studies.The re-registration at TU Darmstadt for the summer semester 2023 will be available from February 15, 2023.

The current certification of enrollment from your home-university for the following semester is required for re-registering in the RMU-Studies at TU Darmstadt. Applications with enrollment certificates from the previous semester will be declined.

To continue your RMU-Studies at TU Darmstadt, the re-registration has to be requested online through your TUCaN-Account. The application can be found here: Service > Application > Re-registration for the RMU-Studies.

The corresponding valid enrollment certificate must be uploaded for the application (Upload document > Begin upload > ok).

Afterwards you only have to submit the application.

Please note that no further documents can be uploaded after the application has been sent.
