Doctors
If you need to see a doctor, you do not need to go to the hospital directly as there are many general practitioners (Allgemeinärzte) in Darmstadt who can help you with most issues.
When you go to see a doctor, you will need:
- your ID card / passport
- your student ID card
- your European Health Insurance Card or a document proving you have health insurance
Please note: if the doctor prescribes you any medicine, you normally have to pay part of the costs yourself.
Medical Emergencies
If you have to see a doctor urgently at night or on a weekend, when normal doctors’ surgeries are closed, you may use the emergency medical service.
