Legal requirements for examinations

Participation in an examination without legally valid registration is excluded!

Requirements and deadlines must be met in order to take examinations. Exam registration via TUCaN is required.

A legally binding registration takes place in the TUCaN web portal in the section Examinations > My examinations > Exams offered for registration. Instructions on how to register for examinations can be found in the online help under “How do I register for an examination?” .

Please note that you can only register for an examination if you are registered for the corresponding module resp. for the corresponding course (if the examination is course-related).

Exam registration period

The regular registration time for all examinations (technical examinations and study examinations) is regulated in the Allgemeinen Prüfungsbestimmungen (APB) der TU Darmstadt (opens in new tab) (only in German).

The start of the examination registration period is in the

  • Summer semester from the beginning of June
  • Winter semester from mid-November

The deadlines for registering for examinations are set by the responsible department. Please note the information and exceptions of your department also with regard to elective examinations, repeat examinations or examinations accompanying lectures.
