Personal advice on questions and concerns in all phases of your studies – The Central Student Advisory and Orientation Office (ZSB) is the first point of contact when it comes to clarifying advisory issues and finding the right advisory service.

Student Service – The Student Service advises on matters such as application and admission (German university entrance eligibility), enrolment, change of degree program, including transfer from Bachelor's to Master's degree (German university entrance eligibility), semester fees, re-registration, leave of absence, de-registration, certificates of enrolment.

Application for international students – The Office for International Admission provides international students with advice on application, admission and enrolment, leave of absence, changing degree programs and certificates for authorities and institutions in Germany and abroad.

Academic advice from the academic offices of the departments

The staff and academic advisors in the academic offices of the departments are the point of contact for questions about modules and courses, examination matters and preparation for examinations, internships, grades, transcripts of records and degrees as well as the organisation of studies and change of degree programme.

Academic advice from the services for teacher training students – The academic advisors in the academic offices of the respective departments provide advice on all subject-specific questions relating to teacher training courses, such as content and requirements in the respective subjects or recognition of study and examination achievements when changing subject or university.

Consulting hours of the International Student Services (ISS) for international students – The ISS offer the first point of contact for international students (Counter Internationales in karo 5) and advice on all non-academic questions.

Consulting hours of the AStA for international students – The General Students' Committee AStA offers advice from international students for international students.

Profession-related advice from the Center for Teacher Education (ZfL) – The advisors at the ZfL provide information about the requirements of the teaching profession and offer decision-making support in clarifying career aspirations. Together, individual strengths and development potentials are identified and suitable steps for the design of the course of study are derived or alternative study and career perspectives are discussed.

Student advisory service for teacher training students at the Center for Teacher Education (ZfL) – At the ZfL, experienced teacher training students provide information about the teacher training courses at TU Darmstadt and support with the individual design and organization of the teacher training course.

Mentoring offer of the Center for Teacher Education (ZfL) – The student mentors of the Center for Teacher Education accompany first-year students through the first semester of the teacher training courses. They provide support and advice on all study-related topics in one-to-one discussions as well as in group meetings.

BAFöG advice from the Studierendenwerk – The Studierendenwerk Darmstadt advises on BaAföG (public funding according to the German Federal Training Assistance Act) and student financing in general.

Social advisory of the Studierendenwerks- The social advisory of the Studierendenwerk advises on many financial topics such as jobbing, health insurance and other insurances, benefits, student financing (e.g. student loans), scholarships and emergency funds, unemployment benefit II, child benefit, housing benefit and alimony as well as on special benefits for students with disabilities or chronic illnesses and for students with child(ren). It also advises on acute financial problems.

Advisory on financial issues from the AStA – The Department for Social Work and Advice at the AStA provides advice on BAföG (public funding according to the German Federal Training Assistance Act), housing benefit for students, unemployment benefit I & II for students, alternative student financing options, student health insurance and child benefit. Important: BAFöG applications cannot be submitted to the AStA, this is only possible at the BAFöG office of the Studierendenwerk.

Advisory to support the financing of childcare from the Prof. Huss Fund for students with children – The Prof. Sorin Huss Fund supports students and doctoral candidates at TU Darmstadt in financing childcare. The funding is intended to help relieve the burden on parents who are studying or doing a doctorate, particularly in financially critical situations.

Individual consultation hours for scientific work with LaTeX and Individual consultation hours for academic work - The University and State Library (ULB) offers individual consultation hours on topics such as literature research, literature management, copyright & citation, publishing and document creation with Word and LaTeX. Writing advice at the SchreibCenter – The SchreibCenter offers writing advice in face-to-face and online consultation hours on all aspects of academic writing: from finding a topic to submission.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) – The MHFA team at Student Health Management offers students confidential and low-threshold first aid for mental crises and challenging situations. The trained students and employees guide affected students to the right counseling or contact point. It is important to emphasize that the MHFA team does not make diagnoses or offer psychotherapeutic treatment. Contact:

Psychotherapeutic Counseling Center of the Studierendenwerk- The Studierendenwerk offers individual, couple and group counseling on topics such as exam anxiety, work and concentration difficulties, choice of studies/dropout, graduation problems/future anxiety, fears, family conflicts, partnership problems, sexuality, contact difficulties, loneliness, lack of self-confidence or inner restlessness, relaxation difficulties.

Consultation hours for students with LGBTI*Q and women's issues at the AStA- Students from the AStA's Queer Department advise students with LGBTI*Q and women's issues and refer them to professional help centers.

Legal advice from the Studierendenwerk - The Studierendenwerk Darmstadt offers free legal advice (initial consultation) for students from a lawyer. Tenancy law matters are a main focus. Advice is only given verbally, although a lawyer's office can be arranged in the event of any necessary correspondence.

Legal advice from the AStA – The AStA offers all TU Darmstadt students free initial advice from lawyers in the event of legal problems. A binding appointment via the AStA office is required in advance.

Start-up support – HIGHEST, the Innovation and Start-up Center at TU Darmstadt, advises and supports students on the topics of founding a company, funding for start-ups, business models and business development.
