From 15 to 19 June 2026, the second edition of the SUSTAIN-E Summer School on Sustainable Electronics will take place in Grenoble, France, bringing together students, researchers and industry to advance sustainable electronics. The programme addresses key challenges in sustainable electronics – from design and production to use, recycling and circularity.

More than 300 Uniters are working on the Alliance’s roadmap towards 2030

From February 9 to 12, Politecnico di Torino hosted the XIII Unite! Dialogue. More than 300 representatives from the nine Unite! universities – students, researchers, and staff – gathered in Turin to shape the strategic direction of the Alliance towards 2030. Under the theme “From a short-term Erasmus+ project to a long-term alliance for EU competitiveness”, the Unite! community worked on the funding proposal for the 2026–2028 period and on strengthening the integration of Alliance activities within the structures of the individual partner universities.

Inspiring the Next Generation of European Engineers

From 11 to 15 May 2026, more than 200 master’s students, PhD candidates, researchers, professors and administrative staff will gather with industry representatives, for interactive sessions and engaging lectures for the third edition of the Unite! Research School (URS).

The XIII Unite! Dialogue will take place at Politecnico di Torino in Italy from 9 to 12 February 2026. More than 300 participants from the nine partner universities of the alliance are expected. The central theme of this Dialogue: “From short-term Erasmus+ projects to a long-term alliance – a contribution to the EU’s competitiveness.”

Pathways to Bachelor Mobility – A Unite! Seed Fund Project for Sustainable Cities

A new Unite! Seed Fund Project aims to enhance international mobility in Civil Engineering by building a cross-university teaching network – starting at the Bachelor level. The goal: to prepare students for international Master’s programmes and to train engineers with a European perspective, capable of decision-making beyond national contexts.

The Unite! Seed Fund Call “Spring 2026” is officially open, offering funding across three strategic lines: Student Activities, Teaching and Learning, and Research and PhD. The new Unite! Seed Fund funding call is now open until 20 March 2026. The call provides financial support for collaborations between Unite! partner universities, helping to initiate projects and place new or emerging collaborations on a strong and sustainable footing. New soft landing services open up funding, contacts and ecosystem access across Europe

Start-ups and spin-offs from TU Darmstadt now benefit from a new Europe-wide support system offered through the Unite! university alliance. The newly launched soft landing services of the Unite! partner universities help early-stage ventures access regional innovation ecosystems, funding opportunities, and expert networks across nine countries.

Policy debate on the future of EU University Alliances – 14 January 2026 in Brussels

The State Government of Hessen invites you to a high-level event titled “Empowering Europe through EU University Alliances – Hessian Universities driving Innovation and Cooperation”, taking place on Wednesday, 14 January 2026, at the Representation of the State of Hessen to the European Union in Brussels. The hosts are Manfred Pentz, Minister for Federal and European Affairs, International Affairs and Bureaucracy Reduction and Timon Gremmels, Minister for Science and Research, Arts and Culture.

ULisboa will award 30 PhD fellowships under a collaboration agreement between FCT and ULisboa as part of European University Unite!

Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa) is part of the Unite! – University Network for Innovation, Technology and Engineering, together with Technishe Universität Darmstadt (Germany), Aalto University (Finland), KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden), Grenoble INP – UGA (France), Politecnico di Torino (Italy), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Spain), Graz University of Technology (Austria) and Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (Poland). ULisboa and Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) signed a collaboration agreement to award PhD fellowships under Unite! priority areas.

The sixth edition of the ULISSES project (University of Lisbon Interdisciplinary Studies on Sustainable Environment and Seas) is once again inviting students to engage intensively with ocean-related sustainability issues. The application deadline is 15 December 2025.

Unite! Seed Fund for Student Activity

With the project “Solve & Unite! Hackathon”, students from five Unite! universities have successfully secured funding from the Seed Fund for Student Activity. The planned hackathon will take place in spring in Barcelona and aims to improve the integration of exchange students into the academic, social, and cultural life at Unite! partner universities.

Unite! Visiting Professors introduce themselves for “Tag der Lehre 2025”

Each year, TU Darmstadt’s ´Tag der Lehre 2025` (Day of teaching) highlights current topics in higher education. Unite! seed-funded project explores next generation of intelligent vehicles

As automated vehicles become more advanced, their energy demands increase rapidly, especially for perception and decision-making. While conventional AI approaches offer high performance, they are often too energy-intensive for scalable and mobile applications in automated vehicles. A promising alternative is neuromorphic computing, which uses brain-inspired techniques like event-based cameras, spiking neural networks, and specialized low-power hardware.

Reflections on six transformative years at the helm of the European University Alliance Unite!

After six years of committed leadership, Tanja Brühl, President of TU Darmstadt, is stepping down as President of the European University Alliance Unite! She handed over the baton to her colleague Vivien Quéma from Grenoble, who was unanimously elected by the Unite! Assembly during the last Unite! Dialogue at Aalto University in October 2025.
