New topics for fall 2023
Understanding proper research data management is becoming more and more important to researchers and students across disciplines. Data management plans are increasingly required by funders, and researchers urgently need data management and open science skills to enhance the impact of their research. Aalto University’s Research Data Management Network and Data Agents organise a free webinar training series on research data management and open science to everyone and invite researchers, students and service staff from Unite! universities to take part.

Doctoral Research Grant opportunities in three Unite! priority areas

The call for the 15 PhD Fellowships is open from July 20th to August 21st, 2023, under the collaboration agreement between ULisboa and FCT.
The Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa), in collaboration with the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) and together with Unite!, will award 15 PhD scholarships in three Unite! priority areas, but other areas are not excluded. The call for applications runs until 21 August 2023.

Unite! Seed Fund supports two student projects

ARISE programme and READING Unite! – U! Reading Club receive financial support
With the Unite! Seed Fund, Unite! aims to financially support innovative, co-creative and collaborative ideas from teachers, researchers and students within the Unite! alliance and to encourage the exploration and development of attractive and diverse activities and projects. The first call started in May this year. Now the first student projects are being financially supported.

EU Researcher's Night

Call for proposal
“The Future of AI-Human Relationships – A Dialogue with the Unite! Alliance Researchers” is the title of the next EU Researcher's Night on 29 September 2023. Researchers from the nine Unite! partner universities conducting research in the field of AI are invited to share their knowledge and provide insights to young people.

Unite! partner university Wrocław Tech invites you to Karpacz from 16 to 18 September 2023 to join young researchers, PhD students and industry and policy experts in addressing pressing global challenges and promoting sustainable circular economy practices and initiatives: The focus will be on energy, green transition and climate.

The VIII Unite! Dialogue will be focused on Unite! Ecosystems

Wrocław Tech will be hosting the upcoming edition of the VIII Unite! Dialogue, titled “Unite! Ecosystems,” scheduled to take place from the 19th to the 21st of September 2023.
This highly anticipated event will bring together representatives from all alliance universities, including faculty, staff, students, and decision-makers, to collaborate and discuss the future of the European University. The theme of “Unite! Ecosystems” encapsulates the core focus of the Dialogue, emphasizing the importance of fostering collaboration and integration within European University ecosystems to drive innovation, efficiency, and sustainable growth. By uniting ecosystems, the event aims to create a dynamic platform for diverse stakeholders to connect, exchange ideas, and collectively shape the future of higher education.

Connecting the Unite! student community at the Unite! Student Festival

The Unite! Student Festival Lisbon 2023 took place at the University of Lisbon, between the 29th of June and the 1st of July 2023, the first event for the entire student community of the nine Unite! partner universities.
For three days, the University of Lisbon experienced a special moment with the presence of two hundred students from the nine Unite! partner universities, who gathered in the Unite! Student Festival, in what was the first alliance event, by students, for students.

European Student Assembly #ESA23

Twelve Unite! students will take part in the European Students' Assembly 2023 and discuss with students from other European Alliances to make recommendations to the European Commission.

Congratulations to the 7 winners of the student video contest!

It is finally time to announce the winners of the student video contest. Launched by the Multilingual & Multicultural Training Centre (M&M), this contest aimed at showing the cultural diversity that defines Unite!
27 students participated in the student video contest and shared their daily student life with the whole Unite! community. Last week, all videos were uploaded on Unite!'s Metacampus so that all the students from the alliance could vote for their favourite video. Voting is now closed and we count seven winners. The winning videos will be used for pedagogical and dissemination purposes within the alliance and the winning students will be invited to the Unite! Student Festival in Lisbon, from June 29 to July 1st.

Two Unite! Blended Intensive Programs for students

Communications Engineering and Data Science and Design Thinking and Product Development
The Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programs at Bachelor's and Master's level provide students with in-depth knowledge of the focus areas “Communications Engineering and Data Science” and “Design Thinking and Product Development”, combining online learning at the home university with a study visit on campus at Aalto University. The application deadline is 15 May 2023.

This master's programme allows you to choose between three Unite! universities, to advance your knowledge in the broad field of computer networks and cybersecurity, and gain professional experience through tailored industry-relevant projects and entrepreneurship training. Application is already open and the deadlines vary from February to May, depending on the University students chose for their first year.

Share a day in your university life and win a trip to Lisbon!

The Unite! student video contest offers you the opportunity to share your cultural reality and win tickets to the Unite! Student Festival held this June in Lisbon. Deadlines go from 30 March to the 9th of April depending on the university.
The goal of this contest is to show the diversity and interculturality that define the Unite! student community. The short film (max. length 3 minutes) will be shown as an example of common and uncommon students’ life from Unite!’s nine partner universities. It should highlight the student’s personal life and habits, and make other universities’ students interested in the Unite! diversity.

The Unite! Seed Fund aims to achieve the maximum potential of Unite! It is envisioned to provide financial support to innovative, co-creative and collaborative ideas from teachers, researchers and students across the Unite! alliance. The Seed Fund intends to support exploration and development of attractive and diverse activities and projects, to help secure either the additional funds for a project or to carry out cooperation on joint, ambitious and innovative ideas within the alliance.

Gemeinsame Lösungen für die Förderung nachhaltiger Energie in Europa
Unite! und Una Europa, zwei Universitätsallianzen, die insgesamt 20 europäische Universitäten vereinen, haben sich für gemeinsame Matchmaking-Aktivitäten zum Thema nachhaltige Energie in Horizon Europe – dem Europäischen Rahmenprogramm für Forschung und Innovation – zusammengetan. Die beiden Veranstaltungen – ein digitales Pre-Matchmaking und ein persönliches Treffen in Brüssel – brachten 46 Forschende aus 15 Universitäten und 10 Ländern zusammen. Drei neue europäische Forschungskonsortien bereiten derzeit Vorschläge für kommende Ausschreibungen in Horizon Europe Cluster 5 „Klima, Energie und Mobilität“ vor.

This is your chance to participate in the Unite! Student Festival held this June in Lisbon. The goal of this festival is to bring together the international Unite! student community and raise their engagement within the alliance.
The Unite! Student Festival Lisbon 2023 will be hosted at University of Lisbon (ULisboa), from June 29 to July 1, 2023 and will gather students from all nine partner universities. It will combine fun, interculturalism and co-creation activities to boost the engagement of Unite! Students community. The participation for Unite! students is free and you can expect travel costs, accommodations and activities to be covered by your university. The deadline for registration is 15 March 2023.
