Unite’s Virtual Exchange Credit Programme (VECP)
Studying abroad without leaving home might seem paradoxical, but it's a reality thanks to Unite’s Virtual Exchange Credit Programme (VECP). The VECP initiative was launched July 2020 in response to the global pandemic. The aim was to create new opportunities for students to continue their academic journey despite the mobility challenges posed by COVID-19. The current offer is available, registration is open.

Designed to enrich the professional journey of professors, researchers, administrative and technical staff across the alliance, this initiative aims to equip participants with the essential tools and resources necessary for success. The catalogue is the result of the work done by the expert community 6.6: Compile a Unite! annual training programme for staff.

The UNITE.H2020 project hands over the baton to the new Unite.Widening initiative
The first phase of the UNITE.H2020 project financed by the Horizon2020 programme and coordinated by the Politecnico and created with the aim of planning the future of Research and Innovation collaboration has come to an end. The aim of the project was precisely to develop a shared, integrated and long-term R&I strategy in synergy with the educational dimension of Unite!, by organising pilot initiatives in various fields to develop new ways of research collaboration and thus promote the institutional transformation of the Alliance partners.

Strong coordination from European Commission needed to advance European Degree, says higher education consortium

ED-AFFICHE, a leading higher education consortium piloting the European Degree, is calling on the European Commission to take a proactive role in coordinating collaboration between all major actors across the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) to make
ED-AFFICHE is a powerhouse consortium of 51 higher education institutions (HEIs) from six European Universities alliances (Una Europa, 4EU+, CHARM-EU, EC2U, EU-CONEXUS, Unite!). In consultation with higher education ministries, quality assurance agencies, students and employers, the consortium has spent the past year co-developing a vision for the European Degree and identifying concrete steps towards its realisation as an instrument to overcome existing legislative and administrative obstacles to developing transnational joint degrees in Europe. Now, the consortium calls on the European Commission to develop processes to support the continuation and scaling up of the close collaboration initiated under ED-AFFICHE and all European Degree pilot experimentation projects.

Unite! visiting professorship program
The Unite! visiting professorship program aims to attract outstanding international talents to promote interdisciplinarity in teaching and didactic innovation through international experience. It is open to all subjects represented at TU Darmstadt. Up to 13 visiting professorships are to be financially supported. The target group are primarily experienced postdocs. The deadline for applications is March 31st, 2024.

The follow-up UNITE!Widening project, starting in January 2024, aims to strengthen scientific capabilities in Portugal and Poland, highlighted in a Lisbon meeting on February 1st and 2nd.

Unite! workshop drives collaborative progress in renewable biotechnology

As part of a Unite! seed funded project, researchers and scientists from KTH Stockholm, TU Darmstadt and TU Graz focus on joint training, hands-on collaboration and new insights in the field of renewable biotechnology.
Sustainable processes for the utilization of carbon dioxide and biomass as future resource base of the industry will highly influence the circular bioeconomy. TU Graz, KTH and TU Darmstadt already hold a strong position in the field of renewable biotechnology, including microbial and enzymatic CO2 utilization and the biocatalytic synthesis of high-value products and commodities. Together they want to unite and expand the biotechnology division within European universities.
