Unite’s Virtual Exchange Credit Programme (VECP)

Studying abroad without leaving home might seem paradoxical, but it's a reality thanks to Unite’s Virtual Exchange Credit Programme (VECP). The VECP initiative was launched July 2020 in response to the global pandemic. The aim was to create new opportunities for students to continue their academic journey despite the mobility challenges posed by COVID-19. The current offer is available, registration is open.

Interdisciplinary for all Unite! students

To promote teaching and international exchange, the Institute of Constructive Design and Building Construction (KGBauko) is organizing the international compact symposium for students on the topic of “Green Building Design” via Zoom on 2, 9 and 16 July 2024. All Unite! students who are interested in sustainable and energy-efficient buildings are invited.

Unite! presents its Faculty & Staff Training Catalogue, now accessible via Unite! website. Designed to enrich the professional journey of professors, researchers, administrative and technical staff across the alliance, this initiative aims to equip participants with the essential tools and resources necessary for success. The catalogue is the result of the work done by the expert community 6.6: Compile a Unite! annual training programme for staff.

The UNITE.H2020 project hands over the baton to the new Unite.Widening initiative

The first phase of the UNITE.H2020 project financed by the Horizon2020 programme and coordinated by the Politecnico and created with the aim of planning the future of Research and Innovation collaboration has come to an end. The aim of the project was precisely to develop a shared, integrated and long-term R&I strategy in synergy with the educational dimension of Unite!, by organising pilot initiatives in various fields to develop new ways of research collaboration and thus promote the institutional transformation of the Alliance partners.

ED-AFFICHE, a leading higher education consortium piloting the European Degree, is calling on the European Commission to take a proactive role in coordinating collaboration between all major actors across the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) to make

ED-AFFICHE is a powerhouse consortium of 51 higher education institutions (HEIs) from six European Universities alliances (Una Europa, 4EU+, CHARM-EU, EC2U, EU-CONEXUS, Unite!). In consultation with higher education ministries, quality assurance agencies, students and employers, the consortium has spent the past year co-developing a vision for the European Degree and identifying concrete steps towards its realisation as an instrument to overcome existing legislative and administrative obstacles to developing transnational joint degrees in Europe. Now, the consortium calls on the European Commission to develop processes to support the continuation and scaling up of the close collaboration initiated under ED-AFFICHE and all European Degree pilot experimentation projects.

PhD fellowships in three Unite! focus areas

The University of Lisbon (ULisboa), in collaboration with the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) and together with Unite!, is awarding 10 PhD fellowships in three Unite! focus areas for the third time, other areas are not excluded. The third call for applications runs until April 30, 2024.

Livestreams for the Unite! Dialogue

The Dialogues are meant to be for the whole community to meet and discuss – even virtual. TU Graz has put together livestreams for a selection of meetings.

Unite! visiting professorship program

The Unite! visiting professorship program aims to attract outstanding international talents to promote interdisciplinarity in teaching and didactic innovation through international experience. It is open to all subjects represented at TU Darmstadt. Up to 13 visiting professorships are to be financially supported. The target group are primarily experienced postdocs. The deadline for applications is March 31st, 2024.

As part of a Unite! seed funded project, researchers and scientists from KTH Stockholm, TU Darmstadt and TU Graz focus on joint training, hands-on collaboration and new insights in the field of renewable biotechnology.

Graz University of Technology is hosting the upcoming Unite! Dialogue, titled "Think Beyond: Unite! for Collective and Sustainable Impact”, scheduled to take place from the 27th to the 29th of February 2024.

UNITE.H2020 comes to an end – UNITE!Widening begins

The UNITE.H2020 project has shaped an integrated R&I strategy for the European University Alliance Unite!, concluding in December 2023. The follow-up UNITE!Widening project, starting in January 2024, aims to strengthen scientific capabilities in Portugal and Poland, highlighted in a Lisbon meeting on February 1st and 2nd.

Spanish, Catalan, German, Italian, French, Swedish, Finnish, Portuguese, Polish… Do you want to improve your speaking skills in any of these languages? With the Unite! Language Tandems, you now can!

Language Tandems offer you the possibility to practice any of the Unite! languages with another student from the Unite! community. It is a great opportunity for you to develop speaking skills in a language you want to improve in, while also meeting other students and widening your international network!

Matchmaking event helps with team building

This time those interested can participate in​ ​a virtual matchmaking event to connect with potential partners, so that more Unite! projects can become a reality. The next call will start on 15 January 2024.

Now Open for Unite! Faculty

The course “Sustainability in Teaching” provides theoretical knowledge about sustainability education and practical examples that help to integrate sustainability into your own teaching. Registrations are possible until 2 February 2024.

Grenoble INP – UGA offers with this Winter School a programme that supports students in disseminating, transferring and protecting their own research results. The registration deadline is 16 January 2024.

Application period open

CoDaS, one of the first joint degree programmes offered by the Unite! alliance, has been granted the prestigious Erasmus Mundus funding by Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union in 2023. The application period for studies starting in autumn 2024 is currently ongoing from 4 Dec 2023 to 19 Jan 2024.

As part of a Unite! seed funded project, researchers and scientists from KTH Stockholm, TU Darmstadt and TU Graz focus on joint training, hands-on collaboration and new insights in the field of renewable biotechnology.

Sustainable processes for the utilization of carbon dioxide and biomass as future resource base of the industry will highly influence the circular bioeconomy. TU Graz, KTH and TU Darmstadt already hold a strong position in the field of renewable biotechnology, including microbial and enzymatic CO2 utilization and the biocatalytic synthesis of high-value products and commodities. Together they want to unite and expand the biotechnology division within European universities.

University of Lisbon Interdisciplinary Studies on Sustainable Environment and Seas (ULISSES) is a project that will provide students with a deep knowledge of ocean related problems. Applications for the 4th edition of the Ulisses project are open until 15 December.

ULisboa in collaboration with Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) and together with Unite! will award nine PhD Fellowships in three Unite! priority areas, although not excluding others areas.
