Studiengänge und Ausbildungsberufe online kennenlernen
Die Darmstädter Hochschul- und Berufsinformationstage „hobit“ bieten auch 2026 wieder Informationen und Orientierung zu Studien- und Ausbildungsmöglichkeiten in Darmstadt und Region. Den Auftakt machen die Online-Info-Tage „hobit talks“ auf hobit.de: Am Mittwoch, 28.01.2026, und Donnerstag, 29.01.2026, können sich tausende Schülerinnen und Schüler ab Klasse 11 online und live von 9.00 Uhr bis 18.00 Uhr über Zukunftswege informieren. Bei der „hobit contact“ am Dienstag, 19.05., besteht für die jungen Leute dann die Gelegenheit, sich direkt vor Ort ein Bild zu machen.

Pathways to Bachelor Mobility – A Unite! Seed Fund Project for Sustainable Cities
A new Unite! Seed Fund Project aims to enhance international mobility in Civil Engineering by building a cross-university teaching network – starting at the Bachelor level. The goal: to prepare students for international Master’s programmes and to train engineers with a European perspective, capable of decision-making beyond national contexts.

The Unite! Seed Fund Call “Spring 2026” is officially open, offering funding across three strategic lines: Student Activities, Teaching and Learning, and Research and PhD. The new Unite! Seed Fund funding call is now open until 20 March 2026. The call provides financial support for collaborations between Unite! partner universities, helping to initiate projects and place new or emerging collaborations on a strong and sustainable footing. Interested staff members at TU Darmstadt can learn more and receive advice during an online info session on 2 February 2026.

ULisboa will award 30 PhD fellowships under a collaboration agreement between FCT and ULisboa as part of European University Unite!
Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa) is part of the Unite! – University Network for Innovation, Technology and Engineering, together with Technishe Universität Darmstadt (Germany), Aalto University (Finland), KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden), Grenoble INP – UGA (France), Politecnico di Torino (Italy), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Spain), Graz University of Technology (Austria) and Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (Poland). ULisboa and Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) signed a collaboration agreement to award PhD fellowships under Unite! priority areas.

Gemeinsam gegen geschlechtsspezifische Gewalt
Auch in diesem Jahr bekennt die TU Darmstadt klar Haltung: Sie beteiligt sich erneut an der UN-Kampagne „Orange the World“, die auf geschlechtsspezifische Gewalt aufmerksam macht. Zwischen dem 25. November, dem Internationalen Tag zur Beendigung der Gewalt gegen Frauen, und dem 10. Dezember, dem Tag der Menschenrechte, werden weltweit Aktionen durchgeführt, um auf diese Form der Menschenrechtsverletzung hinzuweisen, so auch an der TU Darmstadt. In diesem Rahmen lädt die Gleichstellungsbeauftragte Dr.‘in Uta Zybell alle TU-Mitglieder zur Lesung mit Franziska Saxler am 02.12.25 um 12 Uhr ein.

Tutor:innen, Lehrende und studentische Initiativen mit Vorbildcharakter ausgezeichnet
An der TU Darmstadt sind am gestrigen Mittwoch (19.) die „Athene-Preise für gute Lehre“ verliehen worden. Seit 2010 würdigt die Carlo und Karin Giersch-Stiftung mit der Auszeichnung das besondere Engagement von Einzelpersonen, Gruppen oder Organisationseinheiten in der Lehre. Die Preise sind mit insgesamt 46.000 Euro dotiert. Überreicht werden sie traditionell im Anschluss an den „Tag der Lehre“, der jährlich stattfindet und in diesem Jahr unter dem Leitmotiv „Zukunftskompetenzen in der Lehre“ stand.

International students honoured
On 5 November, TU Darmstadt once again honoured recipients of international scholarships with a ceremony. Among them was Mireille Kroon, winner of the 2025 DAAD Prize for outstanding achievements by international students. The award recognises the excellent academic achievements of the Master's student in Business Mathematics as well as her exceptional social and intercultural commitment. The prize is endowed with 1,000 euros.

Unite! seed-funded project explores next generation of intelligent vehicles
As automated vehicles become more advanced, their energy demands increase rapidly, especially for perception and decision-making. While conventional AI approaches offer high performance, they are often too energy-intensive for scalable and mobile applications in automated vehicles. A promising alternative is neuromorphic computing, which uses brain-inspired techniques like event-based cameras, spiking neural networks, and specialized low-power hardware.
