Spots at TU Lichtwiese Campus

One of the most popular study spots is the Mensa at Lichtwiese campus, on the outskirts of Darmstadt, says Aditya . He enjoys the Mensa at Lichtwiese campus for its vibrant atmosphere, making it a great spot to study while grabbing a coffee.

Aditya,
M.Sc. Aerospace Engineering

I like to sit in the Ground Floor where everyone is sipping coffee and studying. You can connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi as well. Feels like a mini library!

Celina highlights another hidden gem on the Lichtwiese campus is the outdoor and indoor hollows (“Kuhle”) in the architecture building. These spaces are ideal for short, informal work sessions, with the added bonus of grabbing a coffee at the student-run Kuhle-Café.

The hollow is full of stairs to chat, work, and switch off.

Tori prefers studying in the Mechanical Engineering Learning Center (LZMB) on the Lichtwiese campus, particularly because of the ambient noise created by other students. The LZMB, which is located in the flat architecture building L3|01, room A99, is divided into two floors, with one floor equipped with sofas for relaxation.

Tori also highlights the large tables available, which are crucial for her architecture work. She points out that the LZMB is an ideal spot for group work, as it allows for both discussion and eating during study sessions.

Viktoriia,
B.Sc. Architecture

For me and my productivity, the pitch silence has no positive effect, so hearing the distant voices of other students helps me feel the whole learning process.

Café 221 qm, suggested by Melis , is located next to Karo 5 and across from the Darmstadtium congress center, is another favorite among students. However, she advises bringing headphones if studying alone, as “the café can get noisy sometimes”.

Melis,

It is important for me that I can snack while studying. Café 221 qm has fair prices and a chill atmosphere.
