Development and application of a digital holography evaluation tool for optical diagnostics within iron particle flames

To characterise oxidation properties in different burner configurations, it is of great interest to determine particle sizes, spacing and velocity in situ. Digital holography is a suitable measurement technique for this purpose, which has already been documented in many papers in the literature. Within this work, an evaluation tool is to be created that simulates holograms and allows the reconstruction of the parameters to be measured from measured data sets.

Für neu hinzugekommene Promovierende im Clusterprojekt Clean Circles wird der Kurs „Teamentwicklung mit Fokus auf die interdisziplinäre Zusammenarbeit“ angeboten. Bestandteile sind Trainer-Input, Reflexionsübungen in Einzelarbeit und in Kleingruppen, Diskussion und Erfahrungsaustausch im Plenum und der Einsatz von erlebnisorientierten Methoden.

From 22–25 June 2022, the Clean Circles teams of Prof. Arne Niemann and Prof. Michèle Knodt held a simulation at the University of Mainz on the legislative procedure of the European Climate Law in European Parliament and Council.

The new PI in Clean Circles, Prof. Wolf Fichtner (KIT), presented his analyses on secured electric power using European power system models. Against the background that new electricity-based applications will significantly increase electricity demand by 2050, he showed the capacity needs for our energy system.

On 8 June 2022, Nikas Scheidt presented results of his paper “International Environmental Cooperation and Renewable Energy Outcomes” at the 6th Global Conference on Economic Geography. Co-authors of the paper are Mile Mišić, Kai Schulze, Narek Mirzoyan, Jonathan Völkle, Ingrid Ott and Michèle Knodt.

We cordially invite you to the 2nd Clean Circles Mini-Symposium on 30 May 2022. The meeting will be held at 2:00 p. m. via Zoom. The symposium will feature one talk by a distinguished scientist in the field of thermodynamics and energy storage. It will be followed by two talks on recent advances in the thermoeconomic assessment of iron and the modeling and optimization of logistic networks within Clean Circles (PIs Stephan and Pfetsch). The duration of the symposium is approximately 2 hours, a detailed agenda is provided below. Each part will comprise a presentation followed by a short discussion.
