Description

The degree programme Master of Arts in Technik und Philosophie is aimed at graduates of degrees in engineering sciences, natural sciences and mathematical sciences and offers the enrichment of competence in the areas of the Philosophy of Technology, Philosophy of Science and Ethics of Technology. In this programme students will concentrate on mastering the central concepts and theoretical approaches in the fields of the Theory of Technology, Philosophy of Technology and Ethics of Technology in their systematic and historical scope. Students will also come to a scientifically sound understanding of issues regarding the structure and composition of technology, as well as their societal and ecological implications.

Internship A career-oriented full-time internship lasting a minimum of six weeks, which must be completed at the latest upon registration for the Master’s examination and may be accredited as part of course requirements (see semester course schedule); Further information.
Admission requirements 1. A Bachelor oder Master degree in engineering, science or mathematical field of TU Darmstadt or an equivalent degree
2. Passed Entrance requirements verification in accordance with the Competences description

This degree programme provides qualifications for various career fields, e.g. politics of technology and research, science management, technological impact assessment, planning and administration in national and state government, institutions, publishers, media, and consulting for ethics committees, for example.

For this reason it is important to start early in the degree programme to gain practical work experience in relevant organisations. In this way students can promote themselves as competent professionals in practice and make important professional contacts. The likelihood of finding a good position is definitely heightened if the student is flexible when it comes to commuting or even moving abroad. Good English language skills are particularly important when it comes to the international job market.
