Application for external students
You are not enrolled at TU Darmstadt in the current semester and would like to apply?
The application takes place exclusively via an online application .
Depending on your original university entrance qualification and your degree, the Application and Admissions Office (Sachgebiet Bewerbung und Zulassung Master) or the International Admissions Office is responsible. If you have acquired your degree at a foreign university or will acquire it by the beginning of the application semester, the International Admissions Office is responsible for the recognition and equivalence check of your foreign degree.
The decision on the subject-related admission to the Master's program is made by the examination board of the responsible department. Please submit your application with the relevant certificates of achievement from your Bachelor's program to the Application and Admissions Office (Sachgebiet Bewerbung und Zulassung) or the International Admissions Office as early as possible.
At the time of application/application, the Bachelor's degree does not yet have to be available. Proof of successful completion of the Bachelor's degree must be submitted by 15.01. of the following year at the latest for a winter semester and by 01.07. at the latest for a summer semester.
An officially certified copy of your degree certificate must be submitted as proof. An informal certificate of completed studies is not sufficient! An extension of the above mentioned deadline is not possible. If you are unable to provide proof of your Bachelor's degree by the above deadlines, you will be de-registered from the Master's program.
Some degree programmes have special enrollment requirements. You will find further information for your desired course of studies in the overview of academic programmes and in the online application in the subject-specific notes.
The recognition of modules or examinations in the Master's program from a previous program that entitles the student to a Master's degree is excluded; this also applies to modules or examinations from another professional degree that entitles the student to a Master's degree.
Please consider the application deadline for your desired degree programme.
Attention: For some degree programmes there are exclusion deadlines, (recognizable by the * after the date or a * after the statement: “to be announced”) i.e. your application must be sent online by the end of the exclusion deadline at the latest. If this deadline is missed, participation in the procedure is excluded.
Application for external students
You are enrolled in the current semester at TU Darmstadt and would like to continue your studies in a Master's programme?
Please remember to re-register on time for the following semester!
An application or application for change to a Master's degree programme is only possible via the online application .
In your TUCaN student account you will find the menu item “Application” after logging in. The application is activated from the beginning of June for a winter semester and from the beginning of December for a summer semester. This menu item leads you to a short interview, after which the “Application for Master's Studies” is generated.
At the time of application, the Bachelor's degree does not yet have to be available. The successful completion of the Bachelor's degree must be certified by 30.04. at the latest for a change to the SoSe and by 31.10. at the latest for a change to the WiSe.
If you have submitted your application for a Master's degree programme on time and have successfully completed all examinations by the above-mentioned deadlines, the relevant Office for Student Affairs will notify the Student Services (Master's Office) that you have completed your Bachelor's degree programme and you will be enrolled in the Master's programme.
Note: If you have not completed your degree by then, your office for student affairs cannot report the completion of your Bachelor's degree to the Student Services Office, i.e. if you have properly re-registered, you will remain enrolled in the Bachelor's degree programme. You will then have to submit a new “Application for Master's Studies” in the following semester.
