Interconnected computing elements occur in almost all of today’s technological products. Because of this embedded nature of software within hardware, the borders between electrical engineering and computer science have become increasingly obsolete. The interdisciplinary field of information systems engineering is situated at this interface. The Master of Science degree in Informationssystemtechnik deals with the construction of complex microprocessor-driven information systems, which are required by the coordinated interaction between hardware and software development. For example, electrical communications engineering now requires mastery of a high degree of software complexity, and at the same time, the physical and electro-technical legality of their fields of operation are becoming more and more important in the planning phase of software systems.
