While the Bachelor of Science focuses mainly on the fundamentals of the field, the Master of Science builds directly on this foundation by providing students with more depth and breadth scientifically and more insight into the field. In contrast to the Bachelor degree programme the Master of Science enables and requires students to adopt their own major focus and to work towards their own independent academic, scientific research profile.

For these reasons it is recommended that students complete a Master of Science degree.

Upon successful completion of a Master of Science degree, there is the opportunity to begin working towards a Ph.D. either at the Technical University of Darmstadt or at another national or international university: Ph.D. at Technical University of Darmstadt

In addition to the teaching of methodological knowledge, great importance is attached to a scientifically sound education based on the latest findings of entrepreneurship and innovation research. Possible professional fields include the foundation and management of an own growing company as well as work in industrial and commercial enterprises, in management consultancies or in associations. Graduates will be enabled to work in the management and promotion of the innovation capability of organisations, in the control and optimisation of innovation processes in companies or in the management of innovation centres. At the same time, the Master's programme lays the foundation for research-oriented work in scientific or public institutions or in research and development.
