Description

All “Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen” (Business Administration and Engineering) degree programmes at the Technical University of Darmstadt are defined by their distinct interdisciplinary nature. They contain parts of both business studies (business administration and economics) and law on the one hand, and engineering on the other to nearly the same extent.

The programme B.Sc. Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen – technische Fachrichtung Bauingenieurwesen (i.e. Business Administration and Engineering: Civil Engineering) focuses on a smaller scale on the engineering area of specialization than the non-business engineering programmes. With respect to their technical field of studies, the students of Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen otherwise attend the same courses as the students enrolled in the corresponding purely technical bachelor’s programs.

Furthermore, the programme includes modules from the areas of Mathematics and Legal Studies.

Business Engineering graduates work at the interface of technological and business needs. Development, marketing and product life cycles, for example, are much shorter today than only a few years ago. Therefore, company and construction procedures must be concluded simultaneously more often than before. For this interface requirement, business engineers are equipped with the necessary skills in both fields.

Business engineers can choose from a multitude of career opportunities. Graduates of the Business Engineering – Technical Field of Study Civil Engineering programme may find employment in management or in research and development. Their employers include businesses in the real estate sector and in the construction industry. Graduates work in the fields of sales, controlling, quality management, business consultancy, or in executive positions.
