Business Administration/Industrial Engineering – specialising in Civil Engineering

Bachelor of Science

Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen — technische Fachrichtung Bauingenieurwesen, B.Sc.

Description

All Business Engineering degree programs at the TU Darmstadt are defined by their distinct interdisciplinary nature. They contain parts of both Business Studies (Business Administration and Economics) and Law on the one hand, and Engineering on the other to nearly the same extent.

The Bachelor’s degree programs in Business Engineering focus on a smaller scale on the engineering area of specialization than the non-business Engineering programs. With respect to their technical field of studies, the students of Business Engineering otherwise attend the same courses as the students enrolled in the corresponding purely technical Bachelor’s programs.

The programme is located at the interface of Business Studies and Civil Engineering. Courses from these two areas make up the largest part of the studies. Furthermore, the programme includes modules from the areas of Mathematics and Legal Studies.

Studying Business Engineering is suitable for everyone who is interested in a business-oriented as well as an engineering-oriented education. The interdisciplinary skills and knowledge taught within this framework aim at enabling the students to communicate with experts of Business Studies and Engineering on problems and their solutions.

A solid scientific-mathematical basis is absolutely essential for a successful course of study as mathematics plays a particularly vital role in the general context of the programme.

Mathematics – Why? What? What for? Who? How? Where? Further information? You will find answers to these questions here.

Apart from technical qualifications, the everyday professional life of business engineers also requires Soft Skills such as communication skills and the ability to work in a team, and creativity.

Use these tools for a smart start into the programme:

Orientierungswoche (OWO) (orientation event) at the beginning of the first semester.

General Information: With the Bachelor of Science, the students will acquire a first professional qualification. However, the Master of Science is considered the standard qualification at TU Darmstadt. For these reasons it is recommended that students complete a Master’s degree.

Please note that admission to the Master’s Degree programme may also depend on additional requirements. This particularly applies to non-consecutive courses of study (meaning with a Bachelor’s degree in a different area of focus or field of study than the desired Master’s degree programme) and to applicants of other universities. If you have any questions, please contact the respective departmental advisor’s office.

Business Administration/Industrial Engineering – specialising in Civil Engineering (M.Sc.)

Business Engineering graduates work at the interface of technological and business needs. Development, marketing and product life cycles, for example, are much shorter today than only a few years ago. Therefore, company and construction procedures must be concluded simultaneously more often than before. For this interface requirement, business engineers are equipped with the necessary skills in both fields.

Business engineers can choose from a multitude of career opportunities. Graduates of the Business Engineering – Technical Field of Study Civil Engineering programme may find employment in management or in research and development. Their employers include businesses in the real estate sector and in the construction industry. Graduates work in the fields of sales, controlling, quality management, business consultancy, or in executive positions.
