Withdrawal from the examination for health or similarly serious reasons

What is to be considered?

Withdrawal from an examination after the deregistration deadline is only possible for health or similarly serious reasons. Various points must be observed in this regard (§ 15 Abs. (2), (4) und (5) APB (opens in new tab) ).

The dates of the deregistration phase of an examination can be found in the examination details of the examination in TUCaN.

Inform the Office for Student Affairs in your department immediately if you know that you will not be able to take the exam!

For an examination withdrawal after the deregistration deadline, an application for withdrawal from the examination must always be submitted to the responsible examination board. The application must be submitted to the Office for Student Affairs in your department immediately after the reasons became known. This means that you must inform the office for studen affairs immediately if you know that you will not be able to take the examination! You must substantiate the serious reasons, i.e. submit appropriate documents if necessary.
The chairperson of the examination board decides on the application (§ 15 (6) APB (opens in new tab) ).

If you do not submit the withdrawal application immediately after the reasons became known or if you do not substantiate the reasons within the specified time (§ 15 (2) APB (opens in new tab) ) or if the reasons are not recognised, the application must be rejected. The examination performance will then be declared as “not sufficient” (§ 15 (4) APB (opens in new tab) ).

Special cases of withdrawal for health or similarly serious reasons are:

Withdrawal due to illness leading to inability to take the examination (Becoming known before the examination)

Withdrawal from examination due to quarantine or a positive test (Corona)

Withdrawal due to illness leading to inability to take the examination (Becoming known during the examination)

Withdrawal due to illness of children to be cared for by the examinee or relatives in need of care

You can submit your medical certificate electronically (please note the modalities in the respective Office for Student Affairs in your department) or you can drop the certificate in paper form in the mailbox of the respective Office for Student Affairs, send it by post or hand it in at the gate of the TU Darmstadt (S1|03).

It is your duty to ensure bringing in the certificate to the Office for Student Affairs in your department due to date.

If the above mentioned documents are not submitted within the deadline, then all exam performances for which a withdrawal should be requested will be evaluated as “insufficient” (5,0), since the exam date was missed without excuse. This also eliminates the possibility of an oral supplementary examination for third examinations attempts.
