Engineering sciences as a flagship of TU Darmstadt

TU Darmstadt is known throughout Germany for its excellent position in the field of engineering sciences, especially in mechanical engineering, or industrial engineering. A particular highlight here are the degree programmes that combine two disciplines. That was one reason for Caro to come to TU Darmstadt. She is studying for a Master's degree in industrial engineering with a technical specialisation in mechanical engineering.

Caro,
Business Administration/Industrial Engineering – specialising in Mechanical Engineering M.Sc.

I chose TUDa because the industrial engineering programme is offered here with technical specializations. Furthermore, Darmstadt is very close to my hometown, which made the choice even easier for me.

David is studying for a Master's degree in Mechatronics, which is at the interface between mechanical engineering and electrical engineering and information technology. He loves to work with robots, which is also his reason for choosing TU.

David,
Mechatronics M.Sc.

I choose TUDa, because I believe it plays a leading role in the advancement of future robotic systems.

Catalina is also studying an applied engineering science in the field of chemistry and biology, namely Biomolecular Engineering .

Catalina,
Biomolecular Engineering B.Sc.

I decided to study at TUDa, because the university is one of the best technical universities in Germany. In addition, this university provides a wealth of opportunities and it is one of the few universities, where you can choose the specialty bimolecular engineering.

STEM subjects: focus on mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology

At a technical university, the focus is on subjects from the STEM field – that is clear. TU Darmstadt is particularly well-positioned in these subjects and is also often in the top group in rankings. Kathrin also sees it that way. She is at the beginning of her bachelor's degree in Business Information Systems.

Kathrin,
Business Information Systems B.Sc.

A few of the reasons why I chose TUDa is that it is one of the best German universities for my degree programme, but also because I really like the atmosphere of the city, which is partly due to the fact that almost a third of the inhabitants are students.

The excellent facilities and opportunities to turn theory into practice were the deciding factors for Christina to study computer science at the TU.

Christina ,
Computer Science B.Sc.

I chose TUDa because it offers unlimited resources in my chosen field, from up to date classes and innovative ways to implement this new knowledge in seminars, projects and student jobs. One can never be bored at TU Darmstadt.

An important note: Please find out in good time which language skills are required for the respective course of study and which language certificates are accepted. If necessary, allow enough time for a language test.

Rankings and internationality

Not only nationally, but also in international rankings, TU Darmstadt is highly visible. Moiz is studying for a Master's degree in Materials Science and informed himself about the TU Darmstadt with the help of rankings. The international orientation also plays a big role for him. He comes from Pakistan and studies in English.

Moiz,
Materials Science M.Sc.

I chose TUDa because of its excellent rankings and the availability of my programme in English language.

The same goes for Arya and his choice for the international Master's programme Tropical Hydrogeology and Environmental Engineering. The fact that TU Darmstadt is a member of TU9 – an alliance of the leading technical universities in Germany – was another important argument for him.

Arya,
Tropical Hydrogeology and Environmental Engineering M.Sc.

To sum up some of the main reasons why I chose TUDa to purse my studies, I can mention excellent research and education quality, being a member of the TOP TU9 Universities in Germany and the future employment.

Teaching training with a STEM focus

In teaching training, the STEM focus is a particular advantage. That's why Richard decided to study chemistry and biology at TU to become a teacher at Secondary Schools.

Richard ,
Biology and Chemistry Teaching at Secondary Schools

I am studying here because this subject combination is not offered at so many universities and Darmstadt gives many applicants the chance to enrol.

The same applies to Sharmila. The good science education convinced her to come to Darmstadt to study German, biology and philosophy for her teaching degree at Secondary Schools.

Sharmila,
German, Biology and Philosophy Teaching at Secondary Schools

I chose TUDa for many reasons. One of them was to get out of the familiar surroundings of Frankfurt and experience something new, but also because TU Darmstadt is mega famous for its good science education.

Good teaching and good lecturers

Nicole is in her Master of Applied Linguistics. For her, the good teaching played a major role in her decision.

Nicole ,
Applied Linguistics M.A

The reason why I chose the TUDa is because of the great location of the university itself and mostly because of the brilliant lecturers that we have here.

After his Bachelor's degree in Digital Philology, Moritz plans to do a Master's degree in Linguistic and Literary Computing at TU Darmstadt. He finds the new field of digital humanities very exciting and that was one of the main reasons for him to choose TU Darmstadt.

Moritz,
Digital Philology B.A.

I'm studying at TU Darmstadt, since it has a big focus on digital humanities which is really cool, since it is such a new field in the humanities. All the people at our institute are really nice and its a lot of fun to study here, especially since we moved to the castle ! It is one of the coolest places at TU Darmstadt to study, at least in my opinion.

Humanities with a technical focus

Not only in the teaching profession, but also in the humanities subjects, TU Darmstadt offers a unique focus on technology and digitalisation.

Steven from Luxembourg was won over by the special range of courses offered at TU Darmstadt. In his humanities Master's degree in History with a focus on modern history, he was able to place a focus on the history of technology at TU.

Steven,
History M.A.

I chose TUDa because I was immediately captivated by the range of courses offered at the TU and the Rhine-Main region, so I had no choice but to come to TUDa to study.

Masha feels the same way. Her Master's degree in Data and Discourse Studies is absolutely unique in Darmstadt and combines humanities with digitalisation.

Masha,
Data and Discourse Studies M.A.

I study at TUDa because my study programme is unique and exists only here. I decided for this study programme because it allows me to treat classical humanities with new digital methods and thus approach them from a perspective much more relevant to the modern world.

The central location of Darmstadt as a student city

Another important argument that was a criterion for many Ambassadors in their decision is the city of Darmstadt. Situated in the economically strong Rhine-Main region, the city offers many job opportunities after or during studies. From Darmstadt, Frankfurt am Main and its international airport is only 20 minutes by bus or train. From Darmstadt, you can travel not only around the world, but also to many corners of Germany, for example to southern Germany or the capital Berlin.

Juan, who came from Ecuador to study at TU Darmstadt, agrees. After his Bachelor's degree, he is now also studying Environmental Engineering in the Master's programme.

Juan,
Environmental Engineering M.Sc.

I decided to study at TUDa because I wanted to live in a city full of students and the location is great!

For Agata, who studies Applied Linguistics, these reasons were also decisive.

Agata,
Applied Linguistics

I chose TUDa because of the perfect combination of interesting courses, the beautiful surroundings and the student atmosphere.
